Wild Bird Rescue 101

5th March 2021 - 9am to 3pm

This hands-on workshop focuses on core skills for bird rescue, handling, and first aid. The course includes demonstrations and a chance to practice vital skills including crop-tubing, bandaging and handling techniques. Learn how to safely and accurately give fluid therapy to a dehydrated bird.  Learn how to stabilise sick or injured birds in the initial 12-24 hours and how to transport them safely.  

Advance Avian Rehabilitation

6th March 2021 - 9am to 3pm

This course will include seminars on helpful techniques and complex issues you will encounter during wild bird rehabilitation. Topics include euthanasia, data collection, Veterinary Operating Instructions, stabilisation, common toxicities (botulism, lead, rat bait) and fluid therapy techniques. A practicum session will include post-mortem demonstrations of anatomy and physiology and practice sessions for specialised bandaging. You will also learn how to give medications and injections safely and correctly.

Please note participants will be practicing all techniques on non-live birds.

Wild Bird Rescue 101 - a more in-depth learning journey for the rescue, transport, first aid and immediate care of sick or injured birds. This is approximately 5 hours of online training including presentations, videos, quizzes and downloadable reference documents that are yours to keep. You will have 6 months of access to refresh your new-found knowledge.

Baby Bird Rescue and Care - learn how to rescue and rehabilitate baby birds right up to release. Includes the essentials of feeding, cleaning, weaning and the unique needs of baby birds, with species variations included. Videos demonstrate feeding techniques and bandages suitable for injured baby birds. Quizzes test your knowledge and step by step reference documents are yours to download and keep forever.
